Description
Solar Records 2011 Record is VG++ with some light scratching and a very light warp. Sleeve is VG++ with some light ring wear.
Robert Graves (guitar/lead vocals) and brothers George (drums) and Andrew Douglas (bass) were only teenagers when they formed the Amherst, Nova Scotia, hard rock outfit Blue Max, and still in high school when the band recorded and self-released its rare LP Limited Edition in 1976. In fact, Andrew Douglas was still several years away from shaving---just 12 years old!-- at the time the trio played its professional gig in 1974. The three inseparable members had come together as Blue Max the previous year, and with constant practice, the group worked their way on to the Maritimes and East Quebec rock circuit, playing mostly on weekends at high school compositions, most of them written by Graves. It was on their Christmas vacation from school in 1976 that they made the trek to Halifax, to the only professional studio in the surrounding area, and recorded Limited Edition, a suitable title for an album of which only 1,000 copies were pressed, making it primarily a promotional item, or something for fans to pick up at live shows. Though still underage, Blue Max soon graduated to playing local bars and clubs and, in the summer months, promoting their own arena concerts. Over the next two years, the band enjoyed considerable regional success. In 1978, they decided to go their separate ways. George Douglas continued to play drums part-time in local bands. His brother Andrew went back to his first love, the guitar. He and Graves reunited over the ensuing years in a pair of bands, Achilles and Mother's Fear. I played this record through twice and it sounds great.
