Description

US MONO BLP 4070 - NEW YORK USA address on both labels. RVG engraved by machine both sides. ear (P) engraved by hand both sides. Cover address on back: 43 West 61st St. New York 23.

Like many early Blue Note pressings, this is a slight anomaly in that it does NOT have 47 West 63rd on the label (which ran from 1959-62 according to my research). This was released in 1961 so perhaps it is a transitional pressing? I’m no expert and only guessing therefore I make no claims that this is an original first pressing. I would be very interested if someone reading this can shed any light?!

Vinyl has been stored away for decades and is still in lovely condition with no significant signs of groove wear. There are just the faintest of paper marks under strong light and one or two inaudible hairlines on either side. Play tested and it sounds amazing. Goldmine graded as solid VG+ (Will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it).

Sleeve has slight damage to the spine and a small seam split top right corner (see pics) otherwise fresh and vibrant looking. Couple of charming stamps on the rear and minor discolouration. Conservative grading as a strong VG.

Labels are mega clean. Housed in a blue note company inner which has a couple of inch seam split otherwise crisp.

All in all a very nice copy considering its age.
