ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE MONO VINYL FIRST PRESSING!
Up for auction is a FIRST MONO PRESSING of the Hard Bop classic, Art Blakey Night In Tunisia (Blue Note BLP 4049). Plastylite 'ear' and 'RVG' stamp are both present, with 47 West 63rd - NYC address and the (R) for the registration mark below the E in NOTE on the deep grooved labels, which as per the Discogs link below indicates a first mono pressing for this album (where both labels are deep grooved). I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading reflects how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
- A beautiful example of the laminated front cover. The back cover has cosmetic blemishes and faint ringwear, but is extremely structurally robust and fully intact, with a pristine spine. Overall I've graded it VG+, but the front & spine are comfortably Excellent.
- Inner: contemporary non-BN.
- Record is strictly graded in VG condition according to the Goldmine record grading system, due to a light scratch on side 2 which causes ticks at the end of track 1 and track 2, a smaller one at the end of side 1 which causes 4-5 ticks, and occasional low-level crackle in silent spots. I saw a few other scuffs when checking in daylight, but these do not affect the audio. Please note I try to grade conservatively, so that if anything you are pleasantly surprised - it's certainly true that the Blue Note sound comes through loud and clear throughout! The audio is bright and clear, dialed up to 11 as Van Gelder liked it, which makes for an intense mono vinyl experience as that early 4000 series packs a real punch, and this album (especially the epic title track) is one of the most powerful of the lot!

Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
