New Orleans born Blues singer Edna Hicks is accompanied by Lemuel Fowler on piano and she does "Satisfied Blues (A Barrel House Blues)" matrix 8498 (no take letter) and "No Name Blues (Some Blues)" matrix 8499 (no take letter) on Gennett 5252.
Both sides were recorded in New York City in early September 1923.
The record is in excellent (E) condition. There is a B side scratch/scuff about a half inch in diameter that ticks but passes.
It is in the original Gennett sleeve.
Note-Edna, half-sister of Blues singer Lizzie Miles, died two years after this recording. She was assisting her husband in filling their automobile's gasoline tank, and was burned after splashed gasoline was ignited by a candle she was holding. She died in a Chicago hospital two days later at the age of 29.
