Description
Honey Boy Edwards "White Windows". 33rpm 12" vinyl recording 1989. This is an extremely rare record made all the more interesting by its origin story. This record was donated to the Clarksdale, Mississippi Public Library by James O'Neal the noted Blues scholar, Record Producer, and one of the founding Editors of Living Blues Magazine. A tag affixed to the sleeve notes the donation.
The Carnegie Public Library in Clarksdale at one time housed in its basement a growing collection of Delta Blues related material collected and curated by Mr. Sid Graves which years later would become the nucleus of The Delta Blues Museum. Unfortunately at that time the local white community that controlled the Library Board was actively resistant to anything that would recognize African American cultural arts in any form and shortly thereafter in the early 90's the Library purged all of the blues recordings from its library.
This record was one of the recordings eliminated from the Library's collection, marked ex-Libris in 1995 as the file card and envelope indicates. The record is virtually un-played, comes in a plastic library sleeve as photographed complete with original photo insert of Honeyboy Edwards.
