I have no idea how rare this record is on black vinyl but every copy i have seen is on either one of 2 subtly different shades of blue (1st or 2nd pressings). This is on good old fashioned black vinyl! Since the other runs are limited enough then it's safe to say that this is VERY rare. I'm guessing the total number pressed would either be whatever small number they do for initial test pressings or maybe at most a slightly larger set of dj promo vinyl copies but they would generally be CDs. It doesn't seem unreasonable to assume there are less than 100 of these in the world, please do get in touch if you know otherwise, i would hate to mislead. I got it nestled amongst one of my frequent orders from warp-net back in the day, they'd often chuck in some obscure jimi tenor record that probably no-one wanted to buy or a handful of stickers but on this occasion, woah! thanks warp! As much as i google i can find no reference to a black pressing on forums or discogs or anywhere.
I already had a copy of one of the first pressings of the blue copies when i got this so i don't think i've ever played it apart from a brief check that it is indeed what it says.
There's no proper sleeve, just a generic warp one, this is not in perfect condition - see the photos - there are some small marks along one edge. The record itself looks to be in near perfect condition, no obvious scratches or blemishes, just the merest trace of dust from storage/the paper inner. As you can see in the photos it has a plain label with the title written in pen, the reverse side is blank.
The etchings in the runouts say 'MPO wap 144 a2, EURODISC' hand etched on one side and 'WAP 144 B-3-1-1' mechanically stamped on the other.
I've heard a lot of complaints about the sound quality of the blue vinyl copies (see discogs comments for example), apparently something that coloured vinyl and picture discs suffer from, I can't say for myself and don't really want to play this to compare but i imagine this 'normal' black vinyl won't have those problems.
