Excellent collection of Sydney Carter songs from the Mr Fox duo of Bob and Carole Pegg. This was actually recorded before the two Mr Fox albums but not released until the duo found (relative) fame under their group name. With a sound of the same sparse, almost mystical, type of folk rock which made the two Mr Fox albums such classics this is an essential addition to any good collection of UK seventies folk rock but is very difficult to find in good condition.

Lovely copy, the sleeve has one or two very minor flaws but the disc itself looks superb and plays just about perfectly .

Condition: Sleeve

Standard single sleeve design made from thinnish card, laminated front and back. Manufactured by Garrod and Lofthouse.

The front sleeve is in very nice condition indeed, it’s very clean with no tears, no writing. Small amount of creasing to the top right corner and a couple of random lamination creases on the rest of the sleeve which aren‘t really serious. There‘s the beginnings of a light circular indentation where the record sits but at arms length in a PVC sleeve (which I’ll supply) it looks just as nice as you could want.

The rear sleeve is also in fine condition. It’s extremely clean with no tears, no writing, just a couple of small,very light inconsequential lamination creases, fewer than the front, again there’s the beginnings of a circular indentation where the record sits which isn’t really serious at the moment but you’ll need to be careful with storage to prevent it getting any worse.

Both top and bottom seams are totally unworn.

The spine is a litle compressed but totally unworn and all of the writing is clearly readable.

All in all an acceptable condition sleeve which will be difficult to significantly improve on.

Condition: Record

The actual record is in superb condition. It’s a thick heavy slab of vinyl which is extremely clean and has a lovely dark sheen, I’ve played this twice but prior to that I’d be surprised if it’s has been played more than half a dozen times. Viewed in normal light the disc looks beautiful with no visible surface marks of an type. When closely examined under a very harsh lamp then I’m pleased to say that still no surface marks of even the lightest type can be seen, a really nice looking example of this very scarce record.

Both labels are in perfect condition. .

When played the disc itself is every bit as good as you would wish it to be. The sound is clear and clean across a wide dyanamic range and very detailed which suit’s the music perfectly. This is, at times a very quiet record with some unaccompanied singing, these sections would be unforgiving if their were any background noise but thankfully there’s no unwanted surface noise at all anywhere on the record, no pops, clicks or crackles, no distortion or groovewear, no jumping or sticking, A top copy of a very scarce LP which would enhance any collection of original UK folk LPs.
