Hello vinyl junkies and record collectors, over the next few months I'll be listing a few hundred albums in an effort to raise money that I can throw into my bottomless money pit, the restoration of a 1958 Edsel. 

Anyway, let's continue with this one by Bob Crane (Colonel Hogan) His Drums & Orchestra Play The Funny Side Of TV - Themes From Television's Great Comedy Series released by Epic Records in 1966 (LN 24224 Monophonic) Original yellow label with black print.

Bob Crane plays drums and provides voices on this LP which contains his takes on popular 1960's television theme songs. The recordings were produced by Stu Phillips and arranged by Phillips, Sid Feller and Ernie Freeman. Play The Funny Side of TV is a crazy mixture of instrumental big-band renditions of television themes with Crane's drum kit high in the mix, plus brief skits, one-liners, and Crane's comedy monologues. Other voices on the LP were provided by Iris Adrian (who played the carhop in The Love Bug!) Great cover photo shows Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink) Crane (Col. Hogan) Sigrid Valdis (Hilda, and Crane's future wife) and John Banner (Sgt. Shultz) Crane is the only person pictured on the cover who actually performs on the LP.

What is a "Bob Crane"? Well, to begin with, he's a sucessful actor (star of Hogan's Heroes); he was also successful as a disc-jockey-interviewer (on KNX-CBS Radio Los Angeles); he's a comedian (though he won't admit it); he writes a little, thinks a lot...and plays drums (Plays drums??!! Yes, he's also a musician, and a good one.)

I first heard Bob play drums several years ago on The Donna Reed Show. Most stars usually sing or recite on records, but here was a chance to sign a star who could do everything. And play drums!

At the recording sessions, Bob was always "on." Jokes flew thick, fast and funny. The most talented studio musicians were his audience, and Bob had them enjoying every session.

If you like your music wiuth a sense of humor, then this album is it. The best of TV's comedy shows provide the themes, and Bob Crane provides the sense of humor, some of the voices...and the drums.

Both LP and cover are in very good condition. The LP has a few light hairline marks that are visible under a bright spotlight but do not effect play.  The cover has no seam splits, cut out marks, writing, rips, tears or other flaws.

I grade on a stricter scale than Goldmine! (or at least the watered down version that seems to exist here on eBay) I'll take the time to describe any flaws rather than give a letter grade that means something different to seemingly every record seller and buyer...I've received too many LPs graded by sellers as VG++ or NM that were pretty beat up, and I'm willing to bet that it has happened to you too.

Sorry of the cover looks washed out in the photos above...this is caused by a reflection from the camera flash... the colors are brighter and bolder in person.

Due to overwhelming requests, I generally ship domestic packages by Media Mail. However, please keep in mid that while Media Mail is the cheapest shipping method, it is also the slowest. Media Mail can take up to one month or more to arrive. Media Mail shipping in the United States is $4.00 including mandatory delivery confirmation.

I do combine shipping ofr multiple purchases. The $4.00 covers between one and two albums. Additional albums (three and up) are an additional 25 cents each. (Please wait for an invoice from me, as the Paypal system does not calculate the combined shipping and will overcharge you!

If you need your purchase quicker than Media Mail will provide, please e-mail me and I'll let you know the Priority Mail shipping cost. Depending on your location Priority rates range between $5.75 to $8.75 for one LP.

Overseas shipping is by Air Mail only (surface mail is no longer available!) Shipping for one LP to Canada is $7.00, Mexico is $11.00. Anywhere else in the world is $14.00. Overseas shipping is by regular air mail can take between one and four weeks to arrive. I do combine shipping for overseas purchases also - I will send an invoice with the shipping amount if purchasing more than one LP.

Sorry, I no longer ship to Italy or the Russian Federation due ot the high number of "LOST" packages.

All records are shipped in cardboard record mailers with cardboard inserts to prevent damage. LP will be removed from cover for shipping to prevent seam splits while in transit.
