Description
Bob Dylan: By the Time We Get to Blackbushe, aka Blackbushe '78 (No label, no year; 33 1/3, 4 LPs, Colored Vinyl)
An Ex/VG+ 4 LP set taken from recordings made at Blackbushe Aerodrome (Surrey) in 1978 (final two tracks on the last side from a contemporary gig in Paris). Eric Clapton guests on 3 tracks. Track listing and personnel detailed in one of the images provided. Generally speaking, a very high quality live recording though somewhat uneven and subject to the occasional intrusions of the more boisterous among the attending. Pressed on colored vinyl: clear (sides a/b); mauve/brick red (sides c/d); green (sides e/f), blue (sides g/h). Labels a-f bear a Dylan caricature, g/h are red and unillustrated. Deadwax/stampers: BLACKBUSHE 78-A through BLACKBUSHER 78-H. Housed in a simple black box with 3/4 wraparound slick. No label/date in evidence.
CONDITION: The box: solid without any hinge problems; very lightly rubbed at the corners but undamaged edges save for a patch of scuffing to the bottom rear (see image); clean slick with one small scratch to the upper right of the front; light soiling to the unslicked portion of the rear; the box was in storage for a good while and during its stay picked up a very slight (hardly noticeable) curl to the lower right edge (best displayed in the final image provided). All in all, quite presentable. The labels: clean, bright, undamaged and unsoiled. The sides: all 4 records have a slight warp - they played through without any issues at all on our Technics, so unless you're working with a very sensitive deck the warp should not register in play; the sides are very clean though what looks like touches of uncleaned wax visible on a/b and some patchy streakiness/discoloration evident on the others, but these are functions of the pressing process and not subsequent misuse and diminished the play not a bit; all 8 sides were play-graded and warrant the EX without question: clean, bright, with almost no surface noise (perhaps just a hint of static at the start of each side), and certainly no skips or rough patches save for two soft ticks midway through side h. The set was issued without supplements (no booklet or insert); the track listing and personnel are listed on the slick rear.
