Description

This 1962 debut mono album was issued simultaneously in the US and the UK. This is a rare first UK issue (pressed by Phillips) and the tell-tale indicators include:

- the matrix number on the disc shows side one as 1L, two as 2L

- two of the track names are shown wrongly on the label (but not the sleeve)

-  the speed is labelled as 33 not 33 1/3 as in subsequent re-issues

- the front cover has BPG 62022 below the CBS logo

I bought this record on release but lent it to a friend and it came back (!!!) with light scratches on 3 tracks (Pretty Peggy-O, Highway 51 Blues, House of the Rising Sun) with consequent little clicks every 2 seconds on play-back. Not loud and definitely no track skidding or jumping. Hence lower price! Album cover in good condition, no marks, discoloration or tears but if held up to the light faint creases on the front cover laminate can be seen.
