Background

Over the next 12-18 months I’ll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop that shut it’s doors in the early 1980’s.  The collection covers a period from the late 1960’s through to the time of the shop’s closure and includes large quantities of 60s/70’s rock, progressive and modern classical music.  Most of the items are unplayed (or at most have sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted.  You don’t get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70’s shop stock anymore!  This short paragraph of background information is included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.

UNSOLD SHOP STOCK Original U.K. 1965 Various Artists Fontana Records E.P. including Bob Dylan’s ‘Blowing in the Wind’, Joan Baez’ ‘Oh, Freedom’ and Pete Seeger’s ‘Careless Love’ (Catalogue Reference: Fontana TFE 18010).  I would guess this has been played once (and it is questionable the Dylan side has been played at all) and the vinyl basically looks like NEW!  I have no qualms grading the vinyl as being the NEAR MINT condition.  If you look at the sleeve you immediately know this copy has barely been handled however, there are some signs of age (yellowing) and accordingly I grade the sleeve as being in EXCELLENT+ condition (more condition details below).  You are simply not going to locate a superior copy!

E.P, Cover

The cover is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  Any flaws are very minor but will be noted.  Being white there is a yellowing to the cover all round (particularly along the exposed edges (i.e. like the opening edge of the sleeve).  The bottom left-hand corner has received a slight knock and there is a suggestion of a bend to the top right-hand corner (I say suggestion because there is no crease in the card or laminate but under a bright light a slight bend can be noted).  There is also a light dig to the opening edge of the sleeve.  This is a stunning copy and these points are noted just so that my description is as accurate as it can be.

Vinyl

I have no qualms at grading this copy as being in NEAR MINT condition.  It is questionable that one of the two sides has ever been played and even under an intense light I struggle to make out any hairline scratches.

Concluding Remarks

It would be a pleasure to own a copy like this and it is questionable you’d want to play it.  Please check my other auctions for further items from the same source in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a Favourite Seller because there is plenty more good stuff where this came from!
