INFO : A ‘scarce as hens teeth’ Kiwi issue of this unique Australia & NZ only released EP from Uncle Bob when then just 25 years old ….. and now forever young at 81.
CONDITION : Note : This record has been vacuum-machine cleaned and fully played on a quality system to evaluate grading.
· VINYL : Obviously enjoyed along its 50+ year journey yet surprisingly still stands up very well audio-wise.
Side A : Minimal lead-in noise that unfolds into a bright and clean ‘mono’ ;sound with no pops, skips or blips of any note (even in the quiet parts) which is pleasing given there a few noticeable light handling marks. A reasonably thick platter here helps for sure and upon listening closely I find it hard to criticise the audio at all.
Side B : Faint deadwax lead-in/out noise which is ever so slightly repeated inbetween songs. Again some light handling marks however this also tracks along sweetly with no noticeable concerns. Difficult to rate any less than EX on playback though to be conservative I’ll go with a strong VG+ knowing that this gem will please.
· LABELS : A-side has a couple of minor marks as per pic above while the B-side is clean.
· SLEEVE : A more than acceptable ‘not found elsewhere’ laminated picture cover as per pics above. No writing, ring-wear, splits and the spine is intact. An age or ‘splodge’ mark at lower right entry on front (plus a minor spot in the middle & near top) otherwise very pleasing for this rarity. You would be doing quite well to find a better original Kiwi cover … if ever.
