Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited – early UK stereo vinyl LP – CBS SBPG 62572
Another record from our personal collection which we’re gradually working our way through and selling.
This is a lovely early UK stereo copy of Highway 61 Revisited on the orange CBS label, with the old Stereo sticker on the sleeve.
The runout/matrix details are:
Side 1 – SBPG 62572-1A-1
Side 2 – SBPG 62572 B2
I’ve done some research into this as I’m certainly not a professional record dealer (just someone who happens to LOVE Dylan!), and these appear to be early UK matrices dating from the original 1965 period. Please do have a good look through all of the photographs as I’ve tried to show the labels, matrices and sleeve as clearly as possible.
Vinyl – VG+
The vinyl is really lovely for its age and still has a beautiful glossy appearance. I’ve play-tested it and it plays really well. There may of course be the occasional bit of light background noise you’d expect from a record of this age, but overall I’ve been genuinely impressed with it.
Please note that grading is my best assessment rather than professional grading, and I’ve deliberately tried to be conservative.
Sleeve – G+
The sleeve is very much showing its age! The front still presents quite nicely, but there is significant age-related discolouration/marking, particularly to the rear, together with general edge and corner wear, creasing and other signs of its approximately 60 years of life. I’ve photographed it carefully rather than trying to make it look better than it is.
The original CBS advertising inner sleeve is also included. This is quite heavily worn and torn around the centre opening, so I will put the actual record into a fresh replacement inner for protection and include the original separately.
This certainly isn’t one for somebody looking for a pristine sleeve, but the actual record is a completely different story and is a really lovely playing copy.
I’ve used the standard record grading descriptions with some AI assistance to help identify the pressing and interpret the matrix numbers, but the photographs and my own play test are of the actual record being sold.
Please have a really good look at all of the photographs as these form part of the description, and I’m very happy to answer questions or photograph anything else.
