PICTURE SLEEVE GRADING INFORMATION

M - (Mint Minus) - Picture Sleeve with possible ring wear, creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar type defect. No cut-out holes, staple holes, etc.

VG+ (Very Good Plus) - Picture Sleeve with some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, possible slight seam split, may have a cut-out hole, staple holes left behind from price tag removal.  Generally if not for a few minor things wrong, this would be a Mint Minus sleeve

VG (Very Good) - Picture Sleeve similar to the VG+ grade but may have writing on the sleeve; possible tape or stickers or the residue left behind from removal of tape or stickers

G+ (Good Plus) - Picture Sleeve with lots of ring wear, possible seem splits, especially bottom or spine; stickers, tape, residue, writing, staining, etc.  If this is a Picture Sleeve you have been looking for a long time, don't pass it by, buy it but then try to find one in better condition.

RECORD GRADING INFORMATION

MINT   - (A “new” old record) 

MINT-   Mint Minus (Near perfect, may have a physical mark, such as superficial paper sleeve marks, may have been played a few times) 

SVG+   (Strong VG Plus, due to overall quality, better than a VG+ record, but not M-) 

VG+     (Very Good Plus, a well cared for record that should satisfy all but the most demanding vinyl collectors, could still have some stray pops, clicks, or surface noise) 

VG      (Very Good – this is an obviously used but still reasonable copy with obvious signs of wear, many times on the vinyl and on the label, but still a good listen) 

VG-    (Very Good Minus – unless rare, this is a grade of record that I usually do not list on eBay – will have a lot of surface noise, probably groove-wear noise.  Sometimes a flip side of a record may be graded VG- while the hit side is graded better)

G or G+   (Good or Good Plus – really a misnomer, as a “Good” graded record is NOT good to nearly all collectors.  The only G or G+ records I would personally own or list on eBay would have to be rare collector items, suitable only to look at!)

 In addition to above, some secondary grade abbreviations for records & sleeves:

DJ  - (DJ / Promotional copy) - provided by a record company to a radio station.  Most DJ copies were different labels than a commercial copy.  Some had the same song on both sides, most later DJ copies had both a Stereo and Mono version.  Still other DJ copies had different songs on both sides.  There were always a limited number of DJ copies pressed and today many remain rare and very collectable)

CO - (Cut Out - Store Return) - will have Drill Hole through sleeve, or corner of sleeve saw mark, etc

I - (Import) Record pressed outside USA

PS – (Picture Sleeve, or a cardboard jacket) - with an Extended Play (EP) 45 or 33. If there is a PS or cardboard jacket, it will also be graded) 

RI - (ReIssue) - Original label reissue like Columbia Hall Of Fame, Capitol Star Line, etc. or independent like Collectables Records

SOS – (Sticker on Sleeve) – some kind of sticker still on the picture sleeve, or residue of removed sticker 

TOS – (Tear on Sleeve) – a tear on the sleeve, usually at very top 

WOS – (Writing on Sleeve) – can be a previous owner name written in pencil or ink, or if a DJ/Promo copy may be a station stamp

WOL – (Writing on Label) – can be a previous owner name written in pencil or ink, or if a DJ/Promo copy may be a station stamp
