Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted. 

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

  •  Seller bought a few of these to sell under-the-counter in his record store right after it came out in 1969 . Some guy from L.A. came in selling them which Seller now knows is where the Great White Wonder originated. Now it makes sense as an indicator that this is the real deal: an original First Pressing. Of the different versions out there this matches up with the Discogs track listings of the original first version (see below). I have made corrections on the banding on side 3.
  • So, anyway, CBS was on the war path to stop the selling of this bootleg in record stores and sent out investigators to see which stores had it. Seller had this one in view behind the counter. The CBS spy reported it and Seller got all kinds of threats from CBS. He, of course, lied and denied but he immediately took this copy home and put it into storage (after a couple spins) where it has remained until now.
  • The records have nothing on the dead wax and no copy on the plain white labels. The company was TMQ (Trademark of Quality) but they had no logos on the cover or records or labels.
  • It is on very heavy vinyl.
  • I had this evaluated at a local record store on high end equipment. It sounded good to me and they gave it their approval.
  • The included paper die-cut inner sleeves are yellow and brittle. I have replaced them with plastic lined rice-paper inner sleeves.
  • The plain white Gate Fold cover has tight seams and a stiff spine. The edges inside the Gate Fold have yellowed a little.
  • The red ink stamp on the cover is consistent with what is depicted on original versions including where ink stamp didn't make full contact.
  • Depending on various sources there were as few as 2000 and as many as 10,000 of the original version pressed.
  • Based on the bootleg (illegal) nature of these recordings Seller cannot warrant the above details are facts. He arrived at his assertions through deduction, just like everybody else selling a version of this album.
