- All of our used records are play-graded and come in a protective outer-sleeve.
CONDITION DETAILS Vinyl plays with occasional crackles (play-graded). Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; light-scuffing, tiny surface abrasions, and surface impressions (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (lyrics/credits); seams partially split and tears along top and on one side. Spine is mostly easy-to-read with some wear. Minor shelf-wear along top-edge; heavier wear along bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
ABOUT THE RECORD Survival, by Bob Marley and The Wailers, is an album with an outwardly militant theme. Some critics speculate that this was due in part to criticism Marley received for the laid-back atmosphere of his previous release, Kaya, which seemed to sidetrack the urgency of his message. In the song Africa Unite, Marley proclaims Pan-African solidarity. The song Zimbabwe is a hymn dedicated to later-independent Rhodesia. The song was performed at Zimbabwe's Independence Celebration in 1980, just after the official declaration of Zimbabwe's independence. Survival was originally to be called Black Survival to underscore the urgency of African unity, but the name was shortened to prevent misinterpretations of the album's theme.
