MY VINYL PLAYING SURFACE GUIDELINE:
GRADING IS SUBJECTIVE.
I do not sell mint archival copies of vinyl, these are used vintage records, I stay away from felt marks, typically I will discard a record that has felt marks unless the cover is rare & desirable or the pressing is ultra rare, if a record does have felt marks, many times I will play test it and let you know if it sounded, if it skipped I would discard it anyway.
Please understand, these record will have some surface noise, a record graded at only VG will likely have light to moderate noise, and even a few ticks, if you have zero tolerance for surface noise, quite frankly you should be buying mint or sealed records, I sell used records. also, a rock or hard rock record tends to mask sound imperfections better than say an easy listening record.
Please keep in mind, I can not guarantee playback, even on a play tested record, as turntables and stylus vary. With non play tested vinyl, even though a record looks clean with out felt marks, it may be a bad pressing, or just plain noisy, it does happen.
Returns are accepted, most customers are satisfied, but I ask you to remember, if I provide an accurate visual grade of an LP, please do not hold it against me if the record has Moderate surface noise, especially on Non play tested VG Grade vinyl, the bottom line is, you should expect MORE surface noise for a VG record than VG+.
Please assume labels will have some spindle marks.
MINT: Only a sealed record will I list with this grade, and even then factory defects are possible.
NEAR MINT: Almost perfect, a sleeve scuff or two per side only.
VG++: Very clean playing surface, Multiple sleeve scuffs per side only, or 1 other light needle mark per side without any scuffing, almost all of it's luster.
VG+: No felt marks, but multiple light marks and scuffs per side some luster loss, a very good play copy, still quite a bit a difference between VG+ and VG++, A VG+ will either have no felt marks or maybe 1 of them with hardly any other defects to speak of.
VG to VG+: This grade is that in between grade, just one or 2 marks to many for the plus grade, looks better than VG. but might cause disagreement if graded VG+, the luster will still be near the same as VG+.
VG: Still no felt marks, but moderate marks and scuffs, much more loss of luster, very playable.
VG MINUS: Felt marks and moderate other marks and scuffs, very little luster left, this type will be a more of a gamble.
GOOD: Worse than VG- and I would only list one if of extreme rarity, and usually dirt cheap.
RECORD COVER GRADING:
(Please understand that these are used vintage covers, they will not be mint.)
VG+: To be safe, I won't grade higher than this on a cover. nice shape, but surely not near mint, I'll focus on splits, spine wear, ring wear, stickers, writing and cut out holes. should have no more than a few of these issues.
VG: May have most of the above, and more pronounced, but still not trashed.
VG MINUS: Really rough, will likely have all of the above.
On bargain vinyl, priced 5.99 and below, expect a lesser condition cover, many times I won't give a detailed description of the cover, expect ring wear, yellowing, light writing on back and front, price stickers and possible light splitting. my main focus on these is providing a record that will play well enough to be enjoyed.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me through the eBay system, I always respond as soon as I see the message.
IMPORTANT: As of June 4, 2013 I do not provide tracking numbers on every package, no matter what the above description may say, there may be a few listing that still have my old policy. THIS POLICY HAS NOW CHANGED.
The bottom line is this, typically on bargain records, DVDs and CD's, any order under 10 dollars in merchandise will not get a number. I will still provide them randomly to head off any possible fake claims however. Honestly I can not justify a 90 cent number on a 2 or 3 dollar record anymore. If something goes wrong I will refund your money, no hassle at all.
Normally now on orders over 20 dollars, I insure the package "at twice the cost by the way" of a Tracking #, which will give you a number of its own to track the package.
Please remember: Your shipping charge is for the postage as well as the quality shipping mailers and stiffener pads used in your shipment, also packing tape and markers to write your address are apart of this charge. and the USPS has raised their media mail rate 3 times within in the last 2 1/2 years. I DO NOT PROFIT OFF OF SHIPPING CHARGES.
Lastly, larger orders usually get a mailer and a larger heavy duty box where I customize the package with corner protecting inside, for extra security. All orders over 20 dollars get insured.
Please Read:
Please do not assume anything that is not mentioned in the listing, some of the answered questions may include the following:
1) I typically do not provide plastic outer sleeves for an LP purchase. This is a cost that does not make sense for a low end, mainly bargain vinyl dealer.
2) I can only give combined shipping refunds for items that are shipped together. If you order a record on one day and pay, then order an item the next day, I will not refund money that has already been used as postage. You must request and invoice before payment of multiple items so I can send you a discount before shipment.
3)Please assume all records I sell need cleaned, especially LP's that have not been play tested, I do not use a cleaning machine on my records for sale.
4) Again: I am an independent 1 man operation, I have 4 school age kids. eBay is not my whole life, I am a collector though, so I will do the best I can. I ship 2 days a week guaranteed. Tues. and Thursday usually, and usually 3 Saturdays a month.
It is possible if you order a record on Thursday, it might not ship until the following Tuesday.
(The above scheduled shipping dates could change without notice.)
Important Please read:
The requirement for payment is 48 hours, regardless of what the listing may say above, I can wait as long as a week if you contact me. If I do not hear from you after 48 hours, an unpaid item case will automatically be filed.
Please do not take this Personal, it is just an automated system that expedites listings easily. I want to keep you as a customer for years to come, please just contact me if more time is needed.
Also I hate to have to explain this, but if you pay for an item and don't pay for 2 or 3 days, your item will get to you 2 or 3 days later than it would have, the clock does not start clicking on shipment times until you pay.
