A finer voice than that of Bobby "Blue" Bland would be very difficult to find in all of Rhythm & Blues. This refined, infinitely delicate, but at the same time robust and masculine voice, continues to be - some 50 years from the inception of his career - one of the most precise instruments in modern American music. In the 50’s and 60’s Bobby Bland outsold any other black artist with the possible exception of James Brown. He was, to put it mildly, the engine behind the modern soul movement. His mid-60’s hits were masterpieces of simple elegance, with vocalizing so stylish and classy one could suffer a complete emotional meltdown just listening to his voice.. The songs are: Ain’t nothing you can do - If I hadn’t called you back - Today - Steal away - After it’s too late - I’m gonna cry - Loneliness hurts - When you put me down - If you could read my mind - Reconsider - Black Night - Blind Man.
