"22, a million"
"22, A Million" is partly a love letter, partly the final resting place of two decades of trying to understand yourself like a religion.
And the inner admission that this understanding may never be found. The album's 10 poly-fi recordings are a collection of sacred moments, of agonies and redemption, are contexts of intense memories, of signs that can be assigned meaning or disregarded as coincidence.
If the previous album "Bon Iver, Bon Iver" created a living space that is rooted in physical spaces, then "22, A Million" is letting go of being bound to one place.
Most of the album was recorded and produced by Vernon and a few trusted friends and colleagues, both new and old, at April Base Studios in Fall Creek.
Individual items were recorded in London, England and near Lisbon, Portugal.
The album's iconic artwork was created by New York-based artist Eric Timothy Carlson.
