Where as the Japanese editions of Pink presented you with only the bold emptiness of a radiating colour - in the hands of Stephen O'Malley and Southern Lord, the aesthetics of the US edition took on a different feel.
The aerosol spatter is still present but driving the visuals of the US version are artworks by William Blake from his tale Paradise Lost (the outside and inside covers). Add a touch of Albrecht Durer vomiting out a mess of O'Malley typeface and it's an intriguing spin on the aural assault found within.
The sound source is the same as what is found on the Japanese vinyl (extended versions, modified track listing). Extras include three perforated cards, resembling those found in the Japanese CD version but with different artwork.
The edition of 6000 vinyl (the largest single print run for Boris vinyl to date) was split into 2000 180g pink marble (this copy), 2000 clear pink and 2000 black vinyl.
In an interview on the Sake-drenched Postcards webpage from 2007... "Atsuo, though, cannot give a reason for the success of “Pink,” only offering a guess that the popularity of their label in the U.S., Southern Lord, has led to a kind of trickle-down benefit. When pressed to explain why a large portion of the audience at its Japan shows is foreign, Atsuo adds: “We are not a Japanese band.”
...it's true. With Pink, Boris were now a truly global band in heavy music.
