Description
Up for auction is a very rare 1979 No Wave gem by the mysterious, enigmatic, presumed-dead Boris Policeband. (He released this, his only "album", under the abbreviated moniker 'Policeband'.)
You may have heard the brilliant track "Tow Away" on the seminal New York Noise collection. Perhaps you haven't. If not, you've probably never heard B.P. because this was his only release and only 800 were ever produced. Or maybe you've seen the MySpace, which a friend and I maintain. (But disregard what I had a year ago written there and read below; the situation has changed.)
Here's the story: this friend and I contacted the original distributer, New York artist Dike Blair, last year in hopes of recovering any remaining copies. He had just over a hundred left. We bought one hundred. We sold them through the above-mentioned MySpace page, here on eBay, Facebook, in person, etc., until we were left with personal copies only. I, myself, have three left. I had planned on keeping them all, but I'm absolutely flat broke and have decided to part with one, and only one.
This is that copy.
It has never been played. The record is absolutely pristine. The sleeve would be in perfect condition were it not for a slight bend to its upper right corner. This blemish was earned in thirty years of storage--every copy we received had it.
So up for auction is one of the half dozen nicest copies of one of the rarest No Wave records in existence.
The record will ship in a sturdy seven-inch mailer upon receipt of payment. And I WILL ship international.
