DAVID BOWIE ‘LOVING THE ALIEN (1983 – 1988)’ conterrà una nuova produzione dell’album del 1987 ‘NEVER LET ME DOWN’ del produttore/ ingegnere del suono Mario McNulty con una nuova strumentazione dei collaboratori di Bowie: Reeves Gabrels (chitarra), David Torn (chitarra), Sterling Campbell (batteria), Tim Lefebvre (basso) come anche un quartetto d’archi con gli arrangiamenti di Nico Muhly e il guest cameo di Laurie Anderson in ‘Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)’. Il cofanetto 11 CD, 15 vinili e download digitale standard prende il suo nome dalla opening track dell’album ‘Tonight’ ed include le nuove versioni rimasterizzate del periodo di maggior successo commerciale di Bowie ‘LET’S DANCE’, ‘TONIGHT’, ‘NEVER LET ME DOWN (ORIGINAL and 2018 VERSIONS)’, il live album ‘GLASS SPIDER (Live Montreal ’87)’, il live album inedito ‘SERIOUS MOONLIGHT’, una raccolta di remix originali intitolato ‘DANCE’ e la compilation con la musica non contenuta negli album/ le versioni alternative/ b-sides e soundtrack RE:CALL 4.Esclusivo ad ognuno dei cofanetti è ‘NEVER LET ME DOWN (2018)’, una nuova produzione dell’album del 1987. Nel 2018 McNulty è entrato all’ Electric Lady Studios a New York con Sterling, Tim Lefebvre al basso, che fu nella band di ? (“Blackstar"), Reeves Gabrels e David Torn alle chitarre. Tutti i musicisti hanno avuto a che fare con David, quindi hanno calzato a pennello in quelle che ora suonano come canzoni nuove. Nico Muhly, che Mario conobbe quando erano entrambi stagisti al Philip Glass nel 2001, si è occupato degli arrangiamenti a corda. Esclusivi ad ogni cofanetto anche ‘RE:CALL 4’ e ‘DANCE’. Il primo è una nuova compilation contenente le versioni contemporanee singole rimasterizzate, i singoli non contenuti negli album, album edit, b-sides e canzoni contenute nelle soundtrack come Labyrinth, Absolute Beginners e When The Wind Blows. ‘DANCE’ contiene 12 remix contemporanei, alcuni dei quali debuttano su CD e vinile per la prima volta. Il titolo prende nome da un album di Bowie di remix inediti e fu in origine programmato per il novembre 1985. Il cofanetto fisico è accompagnato da un libro di 128 pagine nel cofanetto CD e di 84 pagine nel cofanetto vinile, comprende anche foto viste raramente e foto inedite dei fotografi come Denis O’Regan, Greg Gorman, Herb Ritts e molti altri, come anche recensioni storiche e note tecniche sugli album dei produttori/ingegneri Nile Rodgers, Hugh Padgham, Mario McNulty e Justin Shirley-Smith. Il cofanetto CD include le versioni degli album originali fedelmente riprodotte in formato mini vinile ed i CD saranno di colore oro invece che il solito argento. Il cofanetto vinile ha lo stesso contenuto del CD ed è stampato in qualità audiofila su vinile 180 grammi. Contengono entrambi sia ‘Never Let Me Down (2018)’, ‘Dance’ e ‘Re:Call 4’, sia ‘Serious Moonlight (Live ’83)’ e ‘Glass Spider (Live Montreal ’87)’.
