Description
You are viewing the Vintage 1959 COMPLETE BOX SET of 5 VERVE LP's titled "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Song Book". ALSO INCLUDED are the HARDBACK BOOK titled "The Gershwins -- Words Upon Music" and a 45 Extended Play RPM RECORD called "Instrumental Selections from Ella Fitzgerald sings the George and Ira Gershwin Song Book".
The 5 LP's are on the black and silver VERVE label and are numbered MG V-4024 for Vol.1, MG V-4025 for Vol. 2, MG V-4026 for Vol. 3, MG V-4027 for Vol. 4 and MG V-4028 for Vol. 5. Each LP contains 5 songs on each SIDE (A and B) for a total of 50 SONGS!!
These records are at least NEAR MINT PLUS; they have never been played, only touched recently by me to examine them. The labels and play holes show virtually no wear; there is no writing on the labels; there are no stickers on the labels. Each record is in a thick white sleeve.
There is the added bonus of the 45 Extended Play Record! Its number is EP-V-5069; Side A is called the "Ambulatory Suite" and contains 3 selections; Side B also has 3 selections and is titled "The Preludes". This 45 is also in NEAR MINT PLUS condition, having never been played.
The hardback book is about 9 1/4" wide and 12" high. It has 48 pages and was written by Lawrence D. Stewart in 1959 in conjunction with this box set of records. The first part of the book contains the story of the Gershwins and their family and has many many PHOTOGRAPHS! The Second Section gives a history of all the SONGS recorded by Ella in this set and also has many photographs. Also included in this book are various ILLUSTRATIONS by Bernard Buffet who also illustrated the top COVER of the BOX SET. The book is in very good condition; the pages just show normal aging; there are no torn or missing pages.
The seams on the corners of the Box Lid are split, as is one seam on the Box Bottom. Overall this set is complete and in very fine condition!
