A couple of the recordings date from 1960, but the majority were from 1966-68.
When I acquired this set, the sound was fairly muddy, and with regular pops and crackles - but the records themselves were in essence unplayed. I've found that work is needed to bring out the best in such recordings, which combine intricate music with long sides. I have machine cleaned these using a three stage process, washing with a photographic surfactant in the fluid, rinsing with distilled water and finally air-drying. This set has been my benchmark for the process, and the results are now highly listenable - the performances and sound will stand against modern digitial recordings. The records still look unplayed, there are very few crackles left; the box is very solid, but colour of the spine and one corner has faded; finally, the booklet is in decent condition, but does carry some annotations in ink on the track listings.
The set itself weighs over 2kg, and will need careful packaging. Postage will be £4.50 for UK, £19.00 for Europe and £19 for everywhere else. Ready in the pipeline are some great jazz albums, including Mosaic boxes, the remainder of my 90's rock, and a load of classical, including some more Decca SXLs. These charges just cover the postage, maybe with a little over for packaging materials, but I do my best to ensure that the record arrives in the same condition that it left.
