Description
Pål Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen's first group was called Bridges. They released a self-financed LP, "Fakkeltog", on the Våkenatt record company in the summer of 1980. Only 1,000 copies were pressed, but very few of them were sold. Not many are in good condition. The music is strongly influenced and inspired by The Doors. The album was recorded in the somewhat legendary Octocon studios in Nydalen in Oslo, Norway. (other rarities recorded there were prog rock band Octopus's album Thærie Wiighen, recorded 1980-1981 - also a rarety). This original vinyl record is probably the most sought after record among A-HA fans.
The LP has a cover design (photo Fritz Johannesen) that shows the faces of the group members. In the background there are handwritten texts. This is not the complete text of the album, only drafts and excerpts. It also comes with a poster. The record itself is quite unique as it has a stop mark on side B. This was done to divide the record into the three separate parts called "The Oncoming Of Day", "The Oncoming" and "The Oncoming Of Night". One side of the LP has a black label with gray text showing the tracks for "The Oncoming Of Night". "Våkenatt Presenter" and "Bridges..." are printed in large gray capital letters above the track list. The other side of the LP has a white record label. The top half has red text with "...Fakkeltog" and track listing for "The Oncoming". The bottom half of the label shows the tracks for "The Oncoming Of Day" in black text written upside down compared to the text on the top half. A black line divides the upper and lower part of the label.
The record, cover and poster are like new. Never played.
