This is an original US vinyl pressing on Columbia CL 2057  from 1963.    This is the Mono pressing of his first album on Columbia.   The labels are red with 'Guaranteed High Fidelity' at bottom.     This album was produced by Terry Melcher.     It's one of the best and rarest American surf albums !     Great cover photo too !!!

Bruce Johnston is one of the most important creators of surf rock.    One of his earliest credits is arranging and playing on Sandy Nelson's hit "Teenbeat'.   Then he produced records for Del-Fi Records.   He was part of the recording duo 'Bruce And Terry'.     He was part of many surf and car instrumentals released under many names ( like : The Gamblers, The Kustom Kings, The Reveres, The Vettes, The Rip Chords, Sagittarius, The Hot Doggers, and Papa Doo Run Run.)    In 1965 he replaced Glen Campbell in The Beach Boys.     He sang the lead vocals on their big hit "California Girls'.     He left The Beach Boys in 1972, but returned again in 1979.  

Overall Condition is : Cover is M- /  Record is M-

The cover is Mint minus with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits.    There is very slight overall wear that is only noticeable from an angle.    The vinyl looks near mint and it plays near mint.    The vinyl shows no scuffs, scratches or handling marks of any kind.   On side one, song six,  there is a fleck (from the factory ) in the vinyl that makes 6 pops you can hear, and it plays without skips.     The labels are perfect with no spindle marks.  The record comes in an old style Columbia inner sleeve. 

What's great about this album is that all of the songs don't sound the same !     The songs are : 'Surfin' 'Round The World' which has vocals and female call and responces.   'Maksha At Midnight', is a slow fuzz/sax instrumental.    'Down Under' has vocals with femalee backing chorus.   'Capetown' is a rockin' instrumental with some horns.   'Biarritz' is a fast instrumental with fuzz guitar and sax rave-ups.  ( it's the best song )    'Jersey Channel Islands Part 7 '  is a screaming fuzz/sax wailing instrumental ( it's the best song on the album )    'The Hamptons' is a swinging vocal number.     'Virginia Beach' is a funky instrumental with fuzz guitar/organ/sax wailing throughout.    'Surf-A-Nova' has vocals and female backing.    'Hot Pastrami-Mashed Potatoes-Come On To Rincon-Yeah'  is a rocking instrumental with screaming horns.    'Maliblu' is a fast instrumetal with guitar and sax rave-ups ( this is the best song).     'Surfin's Here To Stay' ends the record with another  fuzz/sax wailing instrumental ( this is the best song on the album too).  

My opening bid is rather high, but that's because this is such a great record.     And it's the only nice condtion copy I have ever seen !

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides. 

Postage :  Weight : 1 pound 10 ounces
