Genuine 1st issue of River on the UK CBS label. Matrix A3/B3/C2/D2. Stamped - 'mastered by capitol'. So, here's the first indicator you are dealing with a true 1st issue - at the foot of the labels it should mention 'made in england'. It's worth insisting on these 1st copies as they were pressed heavier and sound FAB! Copies that state 'CBS' at the foot are from,  perhaps, three or four years later. I'd date this copy to around the end of the initial chart-run and believe me this is decent/proper chunky vinyl! The vinyl comes housed in a heavy card wide-spine 1st issue cover with hype sticker on the front. Again, get a later copy and it will be flimsier and more likely to sustain damage. Also included is the original lyric fold-out sheet and the advertising insert. We also have both inner sleeves, but I suspect one is the original article and the other is lighter weight card - probably from a reissue.
Vinyl (Ex+/Ex+) So, all the value is here - in the audio! Look at those label shots! Beautifully preserved copies with only the very lightest of use. Under close inspection we struggled to make out a single mark across four sides of vinyl! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are absolutely silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Forget looking for a better copy because when you find a true 1st press preserved perfectly - IT CANNOT BE BEATEN for audio. Interference...what interference.?...ha! Nothing at all. Beautiful purity through four sides...I can only recall a couple of crackles the whole way through - literally. FINAL UPGRADE no sweat.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has clearly had a very fastidious owner. Lovely clean front and back..practically faultless. Edge wear is very light, in fact, we could only detect a small touch on the spine. The openings of the cover are still sharp and the spine is way better than average with all text very clear and visible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.

Lyric Sheet (Ex+) Faultless - not heavily thumbed at all.
Inner Sleeves (Ex+) No splits or creasing. Faultless.
