Description
Says Wikipedia, “Belle Baker (1893-1957) was an American singer and actress. Popular throughout the 1910s and 1920s, Baker introduced a number of ragtime and torch songs including Irving Berlin's ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘My Yiddishe Mama’. An early adapter to radio, Baker hosted her own radio show during the 1930s. Eddie Cantor called her ‘Dinah Shore, Patti Page, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland all rolled into one.’ Baker recorded “There Must Be Somebody Else” and “Baby Your Mother” on November 5, 1927. Wear, few scuffs, scratches. SOL, wear. Condition V+
NOTE: I grade records by a rating system that has been standard in the industry for decades. Still, it can be a subjective undertaking. I am more likely to grade by how the record reproduces aurally (I use a 78 Shure cartridge with a 1950s Voice of Music turntable that has been fit into a 1946 Magnavox Belvedere radio-phonograph) than by how it looks visually. Sometimes a record that appears substantially worn plays very well and sometimes the opposite is true.
