Description

RARE Original U.K. 1993 Virgin pressing of Bryan Ferry’s ‘Taxi’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: Virgin V2700).  This amounts to a thin but high quality (for the early 90s) vinyl pressing in a pretty thin cardboard sleeve.  The vinyl is stored in a nice quality poly-lined sleeve which I would guess is original.  This would’ve been pressed in very limited quantities in comparison to the CD issue and is consequently quite hard to find.  The record is a co-production with Robin Trower.

CONDITION: MINT (VINYL) / EXCELLENT (SLEEVE)

I would think it is very unlikely that this copy has ever been played.  I believe it is unplayed.  There is no doubt that it has helped that the vinyl has been stored in a poly-lined sleeve however, I can discern no indicated that a needle has ever been anywhere near the grooves or a spindle anywhere near the spindle-hole.  There is a little dust on the playing surfaces but they really shine.  I have noted a couple of tiny hairline marks under an intense light but I’ve had to look very hard to see these.  Crucially, the labels are immaculate and this is fairly unusual because this type of black paper label tends to show up every single greasy fingerprint (I’ve handled the item using the run-out groove).  I cannot imagine you’d find a better copy of the vinyl.  The sleeve displays a little more wear than the vinyl but this is hardly surprising when you consider that this type of flimsy construction isn’t exactly durable.  Limited wear is visible around the very edges of the sleeve and each corner displays minimal fraying.  The bottom right-hand corner has received a light knock.  There is a suggestion of ring-wear on the front of the sleeve but ultimately this is a pretty ‘flat’ example which doesn’t display any bends or creases.  The sleeve is a really solid example and it has survived well.

FINAL COMMENT

A rare item with the vinyl in the kind of condition which you’re unlikely to better!  Please check my other auctions for a large run of Folk, Pop, R n B, Rock and Soul collectables in similarly immaculate condition!  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!  Overseas buyers welcome!

ABOUT ME

I have been a collector for nearly 20 years now and regard myself as a conservative and realistic grader with all my items having been graded under an intense light.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor(!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself.
