Description
This is the original 78 issue of Bud Powell's first leadership session for Blue Note, on August 9, l949. The Modernists (as the group was called) play Bouncing With Bud and Wail - both Powell original compositions - on the blue and yellow Lexington Avenue labels of Blue Note 1567. The playing surface has a few inaudible handling marks and superficial scratches. However, there appears to be no groove wear whatsoever. The spindle hole and labels are flawless, suggesting that the record may never have been played. Personnel includes Fats Navarro, Sonny Rollins, Tommy Potter, and Roy Haynes.
