Description
Here listed is the 1958 titled album "Buddy Holly", the only solo album issued before his death in Feb 1959. This has got such great songs as Peggy Sue, Everyday, Words of Love, and Rave on and those not often listened to but really wonderful songs as Valley of Tears and Little Baby. Condition of the cover is a very nice VG, and the only thing keeping it out of VG+ condition is the fact that someone wrote their name on the upper right of the back cover. There is about a 3" inner split in the top seam, but that is held tight, and there is some break down of the paper, to the bottom seam, but just in a small area; the front and back cover are very clean with no noticeable ring wear. The binding edge is beautiful with no breakdown of the paper and all writing very clean and clear. Maroon Labels are very respectable. Being conservative, side one of the record (with Peggy Sue) would grade a nice VG+ with really only sleeve scuffing; side two, does have three elongated marks but I cannot feel them and they do not appear to be scratches but only scuffs, and would also grade VG+. There is still good listening pleasure here, and the cover is very hard to get in this condition. A nice addition for an early R&R collection. By the way, this is the only cover that ever showed Buddy Holly without his glasses....very unique! No reserve set for this early piece!
