Buddy Holly ORIG US Promo LP For the first time anywhere EX ’83 MCA 27059 Rock
Original US Promo LP released in 1983 on MCA Records. Cat: MCA 27059. Features Gold Promo stamp on front of cover. This album is in MONO. When this album was originally released in 1983, it was a major revelation in collector's circles. Here were the original, undubbed versions of eight songs that had appeared on posthumous Holly albums like Reminiscing, Showcase, and others with overdubbed backing provided by the Fireballs and producer Norman Petty, along with two rarities to pad things out. And hearing the stripped-down Holly minus the audio cover-ups and beef-ups revealed strong (and sometimes superior) efforts all by themselves without the assistance. With future Cricket Jerry Allison on drums, a set of revolving bass players, and Sonny Curtis handling lead guitar chores on three tracks, Holly blasts through some bona fide Texas rockabilly here.
Tracks : Rock-a-bye rock/ maybe baby (1st version)/ Because I love you/ I’m gonna set my foot down/ Changing all these changes/ That’s my desire/ baby won’t you come out tonight/ It’s not my fault/ Brown-eyed handsome man/ Bo Diddley. There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in Excellent condition. Cover has a small sticker stain on top right corner, a small tear on top left corner that has been coloured over with yellow ink and is in VG+ condition.
Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
