Buddy Holly – Peggy Sue, 1957 78 RPM single – rare Vogue-Coral issue, Q.72293.
This is a scarce copy of the original Vogue-Coral issue of Peggy Sue / Everyday by Buddy Holly (Q.72293). It was released at the end of 1957 and within just a few weeks new batches of the record were being pressed on the Coral label. The record grades as somewhere around G-VG. 78’s are (I think) a bit easier to grade than vinyl records. Some are perfect. Some are quite dull and have loads of scratches. Or, like this one, they are somewhere in the middle. This has a few scratches but it certainly isn’t wrecked and it plays well. I don’t know what it will sound like on an electric record player as I only have a wind-up gramophone to play 78s but I can tell you that it sounds really good. (The grooves on 78 records are so deep that light scratches don’t seem to affect them very much). The label on the A-side is fine. The label on the B-side has a slight scuff on the word Everyday as the letter V is rubbed off.The record will be well-wrapped / packed. I have sent many 78s through the mail over the last few years without a single accident.
