Description

Up for bid is an original 1958 copy of Buddy Holly's classic 1st album "The Chirping Crickets" (Brunswick BL-54038 Mono).  This is one of the very rare Holly LPs that was released during his lifetime.  As with most Buddy Holly records from this era, it exhibits many light surface scratches, scuffs, etc.  Overall, the vinyl has nice shine and clean labels.

I JUST play graded this entire record so here's my assessment: There are intermittent background crackles throughout; Mostly evident during quiet gaps between songs.  Great mono sound and a very nice listening experience overall.

SIDE 1:  There are some audible pops and 'ticks' intermittently.  There is 1 split-second skip during the song "Oh Boy" that plays through fine (I had to listen twice to make sure I even heard it).  Due to those issues, side 1 grades VG-

SIDE 2: No major issues; No skips.  A few minor pops/ticks.  Solid VG throughout with background crackles.

OVERALL VINYL GRADE: VG-

The cover is the 2nd edition (non-textured) cover released in 1958.  The top left corner has been clipped.  There is a 6" top seam split and two 3" splits along the bottom seam. No damage to the spine.  There are a few areas of writing on the back cover, and an old piece of tape.  Overall, the cover displays and presents very nicely.  Please see photos for more detail.

COVER: VG-

This is a great chance to own the ICONIC original Crickets album at a fraction of list price!  I must say, a great listen - some background crackles always sound good on records like this.
