Item Description
A very unusual item indeed. One side features 2 tracks by Lee Hazelwood from his 1970 'Cowboy in Sweden' LP. The hand-typed, stuck on label lists these. I don't believe they were ever issued on a UK 45. In fact I'm not sure Cold Hard Times was ever issued on any 45 anywhere?
The other side features 2 complete tracks and part of another track by Buddy Knox, who I believe is being backed by the Dave Travis Band (Bad River Band). My research suggests these 3 tracks were Recorded in the UK for John Peel show in May 1970. I am open to alternate suggestions. Bizarrely this side starts mid way through 'Hula Love' which runs for just over 50 seconds before going straight into approximately 1 minute 20 secs of Party Doll. Then there's a few seconds of a DJ talking before over 3 minutes of 'I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water'. I don't think Muddy Water was ever released on a UK 45. The labels with any details of these tracks were missing from the disc when I aquired it. You can see from the picture where the labels would have been.
I don't know why Lee Hazlewood & Buddy Knox would be put on the same acetate? Was this acetate produced for commercial reasons or for personal use? It could have been recorded from the radio programme in 1970? I also don't know if these specific recordings are available anywhere on vinyl?
This is clearly a Rare Disc and may even be unique? A must for fans of Buddy Knox or Lee Hazlewood.
