Classic Records 200g Audiophile double LP

Tube mastered from the original master tape by Bernie Grundman for Classic Records

This is the original album recorded by Ry Cooder in Cuba, very hard to find these days.

Purchased years ago when Classic Records was having widespread problems with pressing quality of their 200g LPs (warped or “dished” records), so I opened this one to check the vinyl when I received it, to be sure it had no defects.  It has not been played or ever placed on a turntable.

Good as new — even better, because there is no concern about a possibly warped or otherwise flawed 200g pressing.

Condition: Gatefold Album Cover

(Near Mint)

No ring-wear, straight corners, no seam splits, as new.  Comes with the original plastic outer-bag cover, including the Classic Records 200g Quiex SV-P "Super Vinyl Profile" sticker.

Note the absence of any UPC bar-code on the back cover, and the 1997 copyright date, along with the "Classic Records" logo and the RTH-79478 catalog number on the back cover (see photo).  Also note the "Classic Records" logo on each individual record label.

Condition: Record LPs

(Near Mint)

I always recommend that new records should be cleaned before the first play, and considering that everyone has their own preferences, I will leave that to the Buyer.

Please note that the label on Sides “B” and “D” exhibit a very light straight line near the label that is typical of the manufacturing process with many Classic Records pressings, it is difficult to see unless you hold the album at a particular angle to the light.  I have inquired about this on the SH music forum regarding other Classic Records releases, it is NOT a “spindle mark” from ever being placed on a turntable, but has to do with the manufacturing process at RTI (Record Technology, Inc., the manufacturer).  Both records are in unplayed / as new condition.

Double-Box Packaging:

With double-LPs, the LPs will be removed from the cover (to prevent seam-splits) and placed between the Gatefold, separated by a divider so the LPs do not rub against each other.  The album will be placed inside its original “Quiex SV-P 200g” outer plastic bag/cover, and then the whole thing is placed inside an additional clear poly outer protective sleeve.

The album is then “sandwiched” between two album-sized cardboard stiffeners which are then carefully taped, lightly squeezing the album between the cardboard stiffener edges, enough to prevent the album from sliding up and down or side to side, protecting the corners from being bumped during transit.  The album (with cardboard stiffeners) is then placed in a typical record LP mailer box and sealed.  The record mailer box is then placed inside a larger heavy cardboard (200Lb. Test) shipping box, surrounded by foam peanuts all around.  Your record album will be packaged safely and insured. (see photos below)

Packaging Photos:

These are the packaging materials and sequence:

1) First a layer of foam peanuts in the large outer shipping box, the brand new box is 200Lb test heavy cardboard.

2) Next the album, sealed inside a standard Record Mailer box, with cardboard stiffeners (the way most sellers ship albums) is placed on the layer of foam peanuts.

3) Every side of the Record Mailer box has approximately 1” of foam peanuts for padding protection.

4) Final layer of foam peanuts, filled to the top.

5) Large outer box sealed.

6) Comparison photo #1 showing a Bob Dylan album cover (NOT INCLUDED!) on top of standard white Record Mailer box, on top of large outer shipping box.

7) Comparison photo #2 again showing a Bob Dylan album cover (not included!) on top of a white standard Record Mailer box, which is sitting on top of the large outer shipping box, to demonstrate how the standard Record Mailer box is barely larger than your valuable LP, providing little protection.

.

8) Comparison photo #3 showing side view (thickness) of standard Record Mailer box compared to the outer shipping box that I use to protect your record album.
