Description
Burton Greene- "Aquariana" and "The Ongoing Strings" LPs. You are bidding on two LPs by excellent free jazz pianist Burton Greene. The first one, "Aquariana" from , is a rare and out of print ensemble LP in the legendary French BYG/Actuel series and features mind blowing performances by two of my favorite free jazz players, saxophonist Arthur Jones and trumpeter Jacques Coursil. In my opinion, these two stand out more than Greene on this LP and are definitely worth listening to in this session(Jones is one of my favorite players). This album is totally out of print on LP and very very rare. Vinyl: NM; Jacket: NM/VG(some slight discoloration due to the age of the record). The second double LP in the lot is a later performance by Greene on the powerhouse Swiss jazz lp Hat Hut. This album, recorded in 1981, features duets between Greene on piano and maniac Alan Silva on bass and cello. This album is way out there, pushing the boundaries of improvisational jazz. Like the other record, Silva's brilliant performance more than makes this 2 LP set worth the price. Vinyl: NM; Sleeve: NM. This auction is more or less starting at 8-9 dollars a record(considering "Ongoing Strings" is a double LP), a significant markdown on the price I paid for these albums a few years back.
