Another from my personal collection, collected over a period of more than 45 years! This is the original debut lp by Cactus released in 1970 on the Atlantic red/plum labels in the UK Earliest features #1#1 matrix endings!  Please note this album is listed for its rarety rather than for its condition, (most that see my listings will know, that generally my albums that are listed here are near mint)  there is just very light general rubbing ware and tare with age! Having said that, the audio is mind blowing through out deep rich and extreemly vibrant without any distortion or signs that this has been over played what so ever! There is just one place on the vinyl that has a minute 2mm dot/bubble in the vinyl which is  a pressing imperfection the fortunate thing is it is in between tracks and causes five light scuff noises at this point in between track and just in to the intro to the track "Oled" but this is not loud clicks and nothing too bad to spoil the overall audio experience in my opinion. I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint for the most part! The original EDay & co cover is excellent with light signs of rubbing ware with age only but no splits or tares! Highly collectable and sought after heavy rock monster
 



Cactus is the first album by the American hard rock band Cactus, released in 1970 under the Atlantic Label in the UK and the Atco label in the US.



 It includes original songs as well as cover of Mose Allison's version of a blues standard, "Parchman Farm" and another one, Willie Dixon's "You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover"

 

Cactus is an American hard rock band, formed in 1970.

Cactus was initially conceived as early as late 1969 and originally featured former Jeff Beck Group members lead vocalist Rod Stewart and guitarist Jeff Beck, xylophone player/vocalist Adele Smitchell, and former Vanilla Fudge members bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice. However, Beck had an automobile accident and was out of the music scene for over a year and Stewart joined Ronnie Wood in Faces.



Early 1970, Bogert and Appice brought in blues guitarist Jim McCarty from Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels and The Buddy Miles Express, and singer Rusty Day (born Russell Edward Davidson) from The Amboy Dukes.



This line-up produced three albums (Cactus, One Way...Or Another and Restrictions) before intraband troubles led to McCarty quitting at the end of 1971. Shortly afterwards Day was fired from the group. The fourth and last Cactus album ('Ot 'N' Sweaty) featured original rhythm section Bogert and Appice joined by Werner Fritzschings on guitar, Duane Hitchings on keyboards and Peter French (ex-Leaf Hound and Atomic Rooster) on vocals.



The 2012 line up is Jim McCarty, Carmine Appice, Jimmy Kunes, Pete Bremy and Randy Pratt.
Beck, Bogert & Appice
After Cactus's dissolution in 1972, Bogert and Appice joined with Beck to form Beck, Bogert & Appice. After one studio album (the self titled Beck, Bogert & Appice) and one live album (Live In Japan, released only in Japan) the band dissolved.
Their second album remains unreleased to this day, along with recordings of the band's last concert at the Rainbow Theatre in London on January 26, 1974.

The Vinyl
This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and still retains its original sheen! Visually there are no audio sounding scratches at least no marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops! On close scrutiny when looked at angled to the light I can see a minute 2mm vinyl imperfection, a bubble/dot in between one of the tracks that causes light scuff noises only at this point, but soon forgotton as soon as the awesome audio kicks in! Any other marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only. The vinyl has been played but not over played in my opinion!

The Audio Quality
I have played this vinyl track for track through out at loud volume on a top system prior to this listing. The audio is stunningly clear and very vibrant with a rich deep bassey raunchy feel that can only be found on these earliest vinyls! There is just one small place in between tracks on side 2 that has a minute pressing imperfection that stops me from grading the audio as near mint. This causes five light scuff noises in between tracks and just in to the intro of the track  "Oled" but not loud nasty clicks and in my opinion this is soon forgotton when the awesome audio kicks in! Audio is graded at least Excellent plus in my opinion!

The Record Sleeve.
This is plain white poly lined sleeve with light general fading with age only. no splits or tares!

The Cover
This is the original 1st issue unlaminated flimsy type E.Day & co. cove with no splits or tares! There is light general rubbing ware with age noticed if looked for at the spine and edges and very light rubbing on the surfaces! Any creases noticed are light in general but the cover is strong and straight! I would grade this cover at excellent!
