Up for auction is a really nice copy of the hard-to-find Cal Tjader classic album "Aqua Dulce" originally released on Fantasy Records (8416) in 1971. Considered by many to be Tjader's greatest recording, and I'm certainly not one to disagree. Fantastic latin jazz with an incredible supporting cast. And this copy is one of the nicest I've come across. The cover is in fantastic condition, still in its original opened factory shrink wrap. No obvious flaw anywhere except a very small bump of the lower right corner. Other than that, the cover looks "as new", which is rare for this title as most copies show ring wear and rubbing losses due to the fact that it is not protected by the heavy lamination like many earlier Fantasy releases. I'd grade the cover Near Mint (NM), pretty much as good as you'll find. The vinyl is in great condition. It doesn't look like it's been played or handled very much at all. Still retains its original gloss and luster, nice and shiny. No marks around spindle holes, indicates that it hasn't been played in any significant way. Generally, no significant scratches or scuffs. Side One does have a very faint hairline that crosses a few tracks, but you can't feel it, and can see it only at certain angles under certain light conditions--and it does not affect the beautiful play back in any way. Like most Fantasy pressings from the early 70s, the vinyl shines a little unevenly in areas--not to be mistaken with scuffs or mishandling or abuse. This record obviously has been very well taken care of. I have play tested it, and it sounds great. I would grade the vinyl Near Mint Minus (NM-)/EX+ (Excellent Plus). The title track, "Aqua Dulce" is stellar. The sound is clear, bright, and very atmospheric. It's hard to find this record at all, let alone in this condition. 100% guaranteed satisfaction or your money back. No risk buying on any of my records.
