Description
A very rare set. 3 LPs in a box on the Columbia Dark Blue/Gold label, made in Gt. Britain. The numbers are 33 CXS 1483, 33 CX 1484 & 33 CX 1485. Unquestionably one of the best recordings (may be the best recording) of Verdi's "Il Trovatore". La Scala's production directed by von KARAJAN. Maria Callas, Di Stefano, Rolando Panerai, Fedora Barbieri, Nicola Zaccaria, etc., etc. The opera occupies five sides only and the 6th side is blank. I carefully examined the LPs visually and could only see very minor, superficial scuff-marks that should not affect the quality of sound reproduction. They are the kind you would expect in records that old. I could see no scratches whatsoever and the absence of any visible marks around the spindle holes suggests that the records may have not been played. The box is in excellent condition.
