FOLLOWING THE somewhat unexpected success of their previous album the 'Snow Goose', Camel's stock was at an all time high. They had formed at a critical time in the development of British progressive rock, reaping the rewards of a lifetime spent playing the University and College circuit and riding the coat tales of bands like Yes, Genesis, Camel and Pink Floyd. By the time 'Moonmadness' was released they had a ready made audience dead keen to champion their every move.
Fortunately they weren't disappointed as this album (issued in a fetching faux leather beautifully illustrated gate-fold cover) was crammed to the rafters with a wealth of evocative and melodic prog rock built almost exclusively on Peter Barden's brilliant executed keyboards and punctuated by Andy Latimer's superb staccato guitar effects. Not surprisingly the tracks are intricate and, whilst not particularly complex, benefit from the application of superb arrangements. 'Lunar Sea' is in particular one of the highlights of an album that really should form the foundation of any collection of British progressive rock.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Vinyl: Beautiful clean and shiny condition. No spindle marks and no other signs of any use. Grades as shop fresh archive MINT!
Cover: Textured gate-fold cover. Again, no signs of use. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no grubbyness and no creases. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 43 years after release. Grades as top archive MINT!
