THE CAN :- Monster Movie - 1969 UK United Artists UAS 29094 LP

A very hard to find Original UK Issue with the maroon / red labels ............ The disc comes with an equally hard to find 'cube' artwork United Artists Liner Sleeve ..................

Track Listing :-

1. Father Cannot Yell
2. Mary Mary So Contrary
3. Outside My Door
4. Yoo Doo Right

Can: Malcolm Mooney (vocals); Michael Karoli (guitar); Holger Czukay (bass instrument); Jaki Liebezeit (drums). Can's debut finds the peerless rhythm section of bassist Holger Czukay and fearsomely intense drummer Jaki Liebezeit instantly locking onto the chugging mantra of "Father Cannot Yell," taking the Velvet Underground's strung-out garage-rock stance to its ultimate conclusion. Guitarist Michael Karoli veers off into messy, acid-fried splatter, while Irmin Schmidt's keyboards provide both whinnying psychedelic damage and the throbbing, minimal "motorik" pulse that defines Krautrock.MONSTER MOVIE is the only Can album to feature original vocalist Malcolm Mooney. He sounds great on the deliciously trippy "Mary, Mary So Contrary" and on the unhinged "Outside My Door" (without which there could have been no Fall, no Pavement, no Butthole Surfers, no Girls Against Boys, etc). The staggering, 20-minute "Yoo Doo Right" leaves him hoarse, but he weathers the jaw-dropping instrumental turns and twists of this simmering acid-blues behemoth like a true juggernaut. Mooney left soon after (returning for 1988's RITE TIME), but Can had hit the ground running, its remarkable chemistry primed for the wildcard spark that was the vocal freestyling and manic, volcanic energy of Mooney's replacement, the inimitable Kenji "Damo" Suzuki.

I add new listings most days ....... Please take a look

I usually start auctions at a low price to generate interest in bidding

All items are graded Audio / Visually , and played on a high grade system

Please feel able to bid with confidence , as a collector myself I understand the requirements in the gradings of discs and sleeves , and how important it is to recieve items in the condition as advertised

I grade items ( using the UK Record Collector Grading System) beneath a light , to be sure of condition

I do not believe it is necessary to use the eBay buzzwords such as STUNNING !! RARE !! AWESOME !! , padded out with grossly long winded 'descriptions' ..... Many of the 'experts' who use this method of selling also add technical information , which is totally unfounded and does not correspond with the actual facts , and would be laughable but for the fact it is totally misleading. I take time and care to graded items correctly , and only list quality records , with concise , accurate grading descriptions

I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest !) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists 'live' ( I saw The Beatles twice and Segovia !)

I began selling professionally in 1976 , and have a wide knowledge of the items I sell (and always learning !) having bought copies of my own at time of issue , always being interested in the sleeve , label and disc variations. If you have any queries , I will do my best to answer correctly

Please check my feedback ratings , you will see that a large amount are from repeat buyers ( many thanks !) .... and in the event of genuine complaints will remedy the situation as soon as possible
