Description

Capitol Records was formed in Los Angeles during the Second World War & by the early 1950’s had become the first major label on the West Coast . Drawing heavily on the creative talents of the local Radio / TV & Movie industries it’s roster of artists soon became a who’s who of Tinseltown's movers & shakers . By then the iconic ‘ Tower That Nat Built ‘ dominated the intersection at Hollywood & Vine as the company moved into lucrative new markets with equal success .  Capitol’s foray into Rock & Roll was led by Vincent Eugene Craddock under the guidance of legendary producer Ken Nelson & the ground breaking guitar work of Cliff Gallup . Three Billboard hits quickly followed before the USA music industry decided that the image Gene Vincent portrayed didn’t quite fit with the clean cut family credentials they were now trying to portray . By the end of the decade Gene had found a new home & audience in Europe where he was respected by devoted fans & our generation of rock pioneers until his inevitable early death at the age of 36 . Your chance to own a cracking original 45 single from his short period of American fame that will arrive in the generic company sleeve shown .  To quote Ian Dury  .. ' I miss your sad Virginia whisper '
