Captain Beefheart - Original 1969 Trout Mask Replica Double LP
Matching vinyl and cover numbers (STS 1053), Booklet
Straight Record Label - Produced by (who else) Frank Zappa
Original 1969 release with the booklet and with the vinyl numbers matching the numbers on the cover (STS 1053). (Only copies with the 1053 numbers matching are original release copies.) The vinyl has light surface marks in bright light; it plays beautifully (VG+) on my high-end turntable. The records are now in plastic sleeves. Except for some splitting on the front opening at the top (pictured), THE COVER IS PRISTINE with NO RING WEAR (VG++ - NM). I have never seen another original with no ring wear at all. I have had this for years and just stored it. This cover is frameable. The spine is perfect, with text pretty well centered. Both original black Straight record sleeves are there, in excellent clean condition. The 6-page, tri-fold booklet, with lyrics and pictures, has some aging and minor wrinkling, but is not torn or written on. Booklets only came with the original release. This is a collector’s copy. Maybe the most unusual recording of the late 60s.
