Description
Here we have a true masterpiece, Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band's original classic Safe as Milk on the British Pye International label. I can state without fear that this is about the best copy of this disc you will find anywhere in this day and age. The vinyl is so thick and heavy that it doesn't even wobble if you pick it up and give it a shake. The cover is near perfect save for a very small wrinkle in the lamination on the front and a small patch of dirt on the back, possibly from a sticker, beside the word Zag in the title Zig Zag Wanderer (See the picture). The spine is clean, clear and perfectly legible. It's a Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending cover. The Mono vinyl welcomes the listener in with silent grooves that continue throughout both sides and the dead wax matrices end A-1G and B-1G suggesting a first edition and it's housed in a nice poly-lined bag from the time, probably its original one. Look at the concentric ridges on the label which will give you further clues as to its age and provenance. It saddens me to be selling this fine album but at least I can console myself with the fact that I have it on cd now. Here is as good a copy of the Mojave desert's answer to the Rolling Stones' seminal first album as you're ever likely to find, so let the World wash in. God Bless the Good Captain!
