Description

Hi, and welcome to "psych_out!" auctions!!!

I specialize in 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Jazz, Blues, Psych, Folk, Soul, Rock, Pop e.t.c and everything in between! I've been dealing records for years, but i'm new to the ebay game so i'd like to tell you all of my intentions. I travel all over the UK hunting out the VERY BEST records I can find. Obviously, 90%+ of the ones I can find are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? I offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!!

I'm going to start by listing 20 LP's a week every Friday and Saturday, all timed to end 10 days later on Monday and Tuesday night. Hopefully after a while, i'll be able to step things up a gear or two in good time. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZINGMOST IMPORTANTVERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I can ever possibly find!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).

I intend to become one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically (on a very lightweight turntable) as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!

I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!

Title :  Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica

Label & year : Original Straight 1053 , UK Stereo 1969 1st Press!!!

Matrix's : Side A : STS 1053 A1, Side B : STS 1053 B1, Side C : STS 1053 C1, and Side D : STS 1053 D1.

About : Ultra rare Straight 1st Press!!! This true classic unsurprisingly sold barely anything, and had a very, very small run as a 1st Press, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! This album is SURELY one of the best of all time. It contains some of the best, most challenging, and most rewarding music EVER recorded - From the Captain's opening bark of "My smile is dead! I cannot go back to your Frownland...", you KNOW you're in for a trip you'll never forget! Produced by The Captain's schoolmate Frank Zappa, this is and always will be a true one off. It's hard to describe the sound, it's kind of like a collection of awesomely disjointed duelling riffs battling with a furious rhythm section, and The Captain's poetry sung over the top of it!!! But what's even more amazing is that apparently The Captain wrote EVERY piece and note of music on his Piano!!! Every time you listen to it, you notice something new. It may sound a mess on first listen, but once you know how it goes and figure out the sound, you will seriously thank yourself! A real stand out is the Side A closer "Moonlight On Vermont" which is some of the most ferocious, cooking rolling blues ever recorded!!! A true, true genius, and a genius album. Absolute timeless classic psych blues rock LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really is one of the greatest of all time, and DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP, bid now!!!

Tracklist : Frownland, The Dust Blows Forward 'n' The Dust Blows Back, Dachau Blues, Ella Guru, Hair Pie : Bake 1, Moonlight On Vermont, Pachuco Cadaver, Bill's Corpse, Sweet Sweet Bulbs, Neon Meate Dream Of A Octafish, China Pig, My Human Gets Me Blues, Dali's Car, Hair Pie : Bake 2, Pena, Well, When Big Joan Sets Up, Fallin' Ditch, Sugar 'n' Spikes, Ant Man Bee, Orange Claw Hammer, Wild Life, She's Too Much For My Mirror, Hobo Chang Ba, The Blimp, Steal Softly Thru Snow, Old Fart At Play, and Veteran's Day Poppy.

Musicians : Cpt. Beefheart - Vocals / Bass Clarinet / Tenor & Soprano Sax / Simran Horn / Musette, Antennae Jimmy Semens - Steel / Appendage Guitar / Vocal / Flash Horn, Zoot Horn Rollo - Glass Finger Guitar / Flute, The Mascara Snake - Bass Clarinet / Vocal, Rockette Morton - Bass / Narration, Drumbo - Drums / Percussion, Doug Moon - Guest Guitar, and Frank Zappa - Narration and Producer.

Trivia : Between the ages of 5 and 13, Don Van Vliet (The Captain's real name) had his clay animals featured on a weekly sculpting show! He still sculpts to this day. Unbelievably, this classic LP actually charted briefly thanks to the legendary John Peel championing it relentlessly on his radio show. Some of the stories surrounding this album are legendary - The Captain locked his band away with him in a house for eight months to rehearse this virtuoso performance! Only one member was allowed out at a time to get food and drink e.t.c. As the result of such intense rehearsing, the record was completely recorded in the studio in less than five hours!!!

The LP :

Labels : Beautiful pinky orange 1st Press Straight labels. All sides are INCREDIBLE with NO writing, NO wear, and barely ANY spindle marks - the only ones I can see are ULTRA FAINT and TINY!!! It looks like it's only had one or possibly two very careful plays!!! There's still even a little pressing residue around one of the holes!!! Very nearly perfection!!! AMAZING for a 37 year old record!!! Both must grade overall as Mint minus if not better!!!

Record : Visual - Spectacular ultra thick 1st Press Vinyl. Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks nearly UNUSED!!! The only blemishes I can see are just a tiny amount of the lightest, wispy sleeve traces (only visible in MEGA strong light) from where it has sat in it's unforgiving inners over the years!!! UNBELIEVABLE for a record this age!!! Must grade overall as Near Mint if not better!!!

Record : Audio - Fantastic stereo clarity and seperation!!! NO distortion, pops, hops, jumps OR clicks!!! Only the BAREST hint of static which all records have stops it being 100% perfect - but it is to all intents and purposes the sound of a mint record!!! ASTONISHING for a record this age!!! Must grade overall as Near Mint if not better!!!

Sleeve : Original Straight 1st Press E.J Day unlaminated cover, complete with original inners. Notorious for aging badly, this sleeve still looks remarkably well for it's age. Still in quite a good, strong, solid condition after all these years, the only real blemishes are some wear to the edges and a bit of ring wear but it's not too worn with no really bad damage. It really is practically impossible to find this sleeve in a much better contition. Must grade overall as Very Good+ if not better!!!

Summary : An AWESOME copy of this ASTONISHINGLY RARE 1ST PRESS LP!!! Easily one of THE best left in existence!!! Don't miss out!!!
