Pillar Sleeve
Caravan The Original Debut Album 1968
This album is a nice clean example the details for which I will happily share
The original 1968 album from Caravan and in all honesty it has fared well against the test of time considering the fragile nature for the format with the resulting complications that can occur through rough handling and improper play guide lines
I have studied the sleeve closely and with the aid from the pictures and placing in the correct light Hopefully you will notice things mentioned as we go along
The original Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve holds itself well NO splits tears or scribbles The spine is strong with slight wear to the corners There is a forming of some ring wear showing From the spine there are short lived creases under a ten count With a small laminate damage spot No major seam wear or discoloration to the rear from it`s handling
So a clean Very Good
So to the record visually I am happy to place this as being a Clean Very Good Showing NO major marks which you would raise an eyebrow too NO wayward stylus marks Only light surface hair lines are to be seen on the play surfaces and a light handling blemish This is with a strong LED lamp source
The labels are clean with a good level of accuracy having been applied from placing the record to the turntable There is some centre spindle marks although confined neatly within the centre hole area
Playing the album as I am at this moment the run in area is not clear of some clicks but once play commences HAPPY A nice clear play quality is delivered Top End clarity is well defined HAPPILY No loud clicks pops or continuing clicks to spoil
Now to the dreaded groove wear (background) noise Is it sometimes wise to have a system that picks out every detail Yes I hear you say Well there is a level of background wear however it is not to a level that it distracts from the play content and somewhat patchy It`s there and I`m finding myself listening for it Hence my judgement as in line with the visual condition will be a Clean Very Good and I`m critical for the play quality
