Beautiful copy of the original 1940 3-78rpm set of solo guitar pieces by the great early jazz guitar master, Carl Kress, on Decca Personality Series album no. 114. This is one of the earliest jazz guitar albums ever, and a marvel to hear. Largely forgotten now, but really one of the greats… Kress is amazing to hear, a totally unique player who really had that special something… a truly top class player, and these are some of his most dazzling recordings, made from 1938-1940. Includes his legendary Afterthoughts, in three parts. This is easily the best copy of this album I have ever seen. It doesn’t turn up often at all to begin with but when it does it is commonly much more worn than this copy. All three discs here are stunningly clean, almost minty. I call them E+ but they are really more like NM, with only a few completely superficial and inconsequential light scuffs here or there. Just beautiful, shiny, clean discs. The cover has a bit of light wear, with the top of the spine torn a bit, and some of the usual edge and corner wear. Some spotting on the front at the right side as well. Also the first record pocket inside is torn a little, but still entirely intact, holding the record perfectly securely. The spine is still attached and readable, and the binding is strong and not wobbly at all. This is a truly beautiful copy of this wonderful album. Near impossible to beat.
