Description

A Sun rarity. Released August 1, 1955. Carl Perkins’ first record, BEFORE “Blue Suede Shoes.” Not many of these out there—try to find another! The ONLY original copy on eBay. Nice clean copy. Clean labels, and the vinyl is in a great state of preservation. Vinyl retains original smooth gloss. Some scattered light marks visible under light, slight wear to labels. Highest grade copy I could locate and insanely rare in this condition. An authentic copy with nice thick disc, correct matrix numbers, and push marks on the labels. Includes the original plain brown sleeve—Sun did not yet have an official company sleeve in 1955. If a Sun company sleeve is desired for display purposes, I will include one upon request. And unlike many early Sun records, this one sounds great with very little of that so-called “Sun hiss.” “Gone Gone Gone” is rockabilly. But Sam Phillips decided to include “Let the Jukebox Keep on Playing,” which is pure country-western as a back up. I guess he wasn’t sure how the new rockabilly sound would be received. Everyone is always clamoring after Elvis’s Sun 45’s, but this one is scarcer and a fraction of the price! An investment in music history! Mint: A new record. I will rarely if ever use this grade.



Near Mint (NM): Appears almost unplayed. May show slight signs of handling or sleeve wear but no scratches or scuffs. Retains original gloss. Labels will be near perfect. A very high grade record that will satisfy almost any collector.



Excellent (Exc): May have a few scattered very light unfeelable scratches or scuffs. Retains much of it’s original gloss. A high grade record that will satisfy a demanding collector. Labels will show very little wear.



Very Good Plus (VG+): Will have several light unfeelable scratches or scuffs. May retain some original gloss. Labels may show light wear. Still a very collectible record.



Very Good (VG): Will have quite a few light scratches or scuffs or other issues and possibly a few feelable ones. Labels may show a fair amount of wear. Record will appear a bit worn. Still a collectible record that will satisfy undemanding collectors.



Good (G): Record will have many scratches (some deep), scuffs or other issues. Labels may show heavy wear. Will appear very worn. The lowest grade I will ever offer.
