Carl Woitschach (born February 29,1864 in Poznan, May 24, 1939 in Berlin) was music director and composer. Woitschach has conducted several orchestras such as the "Berliner Tonknstler-Orchester", the "Groes Blasorchester", the "Salon-Orchester" and the "Odeon-Orchester" and founded the "Berliner Blasorchester" himself. He was fluent in French and was music director at Telefunken. His son Paul Woitschach(19081981), who chose the same profession, comes from his marriage to a French woman. In the twenties and thirties, Woitschach recorded pieces of music in the spirit of preserving the colonial tradition. Carl Woitschach and his wind orchestra played an outstanding special role in the care of German and Austrian march goods. Woitschach has had excellent musicians for his recordings for many years and there were even members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with him. Woitschach recorded the "Socialist March" and the "Marseillaise" as well as pieces by John Philip Sousa. Later he conducted, for example, the Groer Blasorchester with vocal accompaniment by SA-Sturm 33Hans Maikowski(Telefunken A 1393, 1933). He is buried in a cemetery in Berlin-Lankwitz.
